Trying to find ways to texture trees that will look nice for the film but not require loads of giant texture maps so I've been playing around with procedural texturing.
Here's a few early examples using the wood texture node that comes with Maya.
Really pleased with the outcome here.
I think i'll even be able to get moss growing on the trees using this method.

Cabin in the fog update
I added more foreground stuff including a slightly blurred out foreground tree and nettle bush. I also used some black strokes to bring out more of the things I wanted to emphasize. I think it has a nice sort of old Disney feel to it now.

Quick Tree
Wee 30 mins tweaking the tree to see if I can get it closer to the concepts. I'll do some more of these tonight and try and match up to Scotts concept.

Truck Concept Quick Paint
I painted over the truck 3D block outs I made. As it is a concept I painted it quite quickly as it is just to give the look and feel of the truck. It can of course be painted out to a polished state but I don't think it is required at this stage.

Quick Truck Block Out
This truck block out is so I can paint over it in Photoshop to design the truck. It will help with perspective and gives a good basis for all different angles.
Dark cabin interior
Here is a concept for the Dark Cabin. I made it a bit more smaller than the plan view to give it a more trapped feeling. I also felt that it would be more dangerous if the cabin could collapse at any minute so I tilted the ceiling and added support beams.
